I bought this game on xbox 360 because I had a lot of fun playing it with my sister on wii. It is not the same. I found it was difficult, and boring. The graphics are better on 360, and that was kind of cool, but I am not even sure if its the same storyline. I know for sure there are things in the xbox version I never saw on the wii (and vis versa). I recommend renting this first to see if its your kind of thing or not. Dont waste the money without trying it out.
It's a Double Negative     On: 2008-05-16

This product is a double negative. Its so bad, its good. That might seem strange, but Ill explain why in a minute.

This video games retells the events in the last two Pirates of the Caribbean movies. However, if youre serious about the story, skip this. This video game doesnt retell the story very accuratly. Only half of the plot details happened in the movie.

As for graphics, I agree with the other reviewers. The animation is not glitchy and looks very nice. However, Jack Sparrows peculiar movements looked more entertaining in the movie. In this game, Jack Sparrow looks over animated; like hes too drunk to stand up (but miraculously talk straight). Other than that, nice graphics. For a game developed for a fast release, it certainly looks pretty.

Now we get to the big question. Gameplay... The gameplay is seriously boring. Serious video gamers will be un-entertained and would rather play Halo. However, people who have had bad days will love this game. If you want a game that is easy to play and win, you can play this. If youve overworked your brain in the office, you can come home and let this game play itself for you. This game is a stress reliever.

If youre a serious video gamer, than done bother renting this. However, if you do get a copy, save it for a very miserable day.
For the Priate In all of Us!     On: 2008-03-30

Priates 3 game is about as good as a pirate game that you can find. This game takes you thorugh some areas that the movie only touches and the dueling system once it was perfected was about as good as it can be. The only problem wit this game is that you feel as if you are limitted to the moves and the finishes that all the characters have. It does feel as if it was missing something to make it a creat game but I still enjoyed playing it.

Best looking game I've ever played!     On: 2007-09-10

Honestly, I purchased this game not expecting much, I mean really most pirate games are horrible to play and or look at... This game just blew me away with its high definition graphics on my hdtv 52 inch screen. I own Oblivion,Resistance fall of man and Bio shock and they cant compare to this games graphics... The sword duel during the maelstrom is well worth the price of the whole game.

The sword fighting and duels are fun and interesting and require more attention than mindless button mashing.

My only problem is the game is over to quick, waaaay to quick. I really wish it were more open ended like Oblivion to give it more replay value.

Pretty and very BORING!     On: 2007-07-27

WOW! I was hoping this game wouldnt be as bad as people said. It really sucks! No fun at all. Pretty to look at on my 1080p-but thats it. Fun-factor = 3/10 Glad I only paid 37.00 for it. In a nutshell, if youre under 15 yrs old, you will love this game! If not, spit on it. What a waste.
Great Movie Game     On: 2007-06-09

I just finished this game and I have to say it was one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I have had on Xbox 360. As a huge fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean Movie Franchise this game fits in very well with the brand. If you have yet to see At Worlds End and want to be surprised DO NOT play this game, the game follows the movie very closely and lets you play at most of the vital scenes as well as some creative storylines not found in the films.

The game is visually stunning and the sound shook my living room. The characters look almost exactly as they do on the big screen. As for the game play, it is relativity easy, but that is what makes the game so enjoyable. It can be played by children and adults. As for its reply value, I feel this game can be played over and over again. There are many hidden elements to the game that are not easily found and I for one will play this game again just to find the hidden items.

I highly recommend this game for anyone who is looking for good family fun or a break from the first person shooters and grand theft auto type games currently flooding the video game market.

In the end you will remember this day as the day we all caught Captain Jack Sparrow and he is alive and well in our video game collections.

Entertaining and enjoyable

This game was fun when I got it I was looking forward to getting home and getting started and straight away you will notice that the graphics for this game are great I mean I thought that (and sorry if I spoil it for anyone)and the voices are really hard to tell the difference from the real cast ( but I do think the voice of barbossa was here not sure)I also thought that the battle seens where there are those real fast sword clashes were great.Faults:well trying to use your gun and throwing knives is impossible to aim even with a area filled with enemys.also flashing from character to character was a little annoying but at times it was fun.Overall:well a good thing about this game is that it isn,t a simple button masher it actually has a lot of combos such as being able to punch and throw them around I esplcially like the ability to knee people in the nuts so it was really fun. but with very minor faults no game is perfect
not great but lots of fun     On: 2007-05-28

Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End is a great looking game, visually stunning. That is its strongest feature, and there is a lot of wasted potential but that aside the game is still fun if you are a fan of the movies and like the beat the crap out of things with a sword.
break out the feather duster here comes the dust     On: 2007-05-28

Every once in a while my wife will get into a video game. Usually its something to do with harry potter or lord of the rings. She wanted to try out "At worlds end" for the 360.

I told her it would be dumb and stupid, but she insisted. I bought the game on May 22, the day it came out for $65. Its now May 28th and the game is collecting much dust.

On my next trip to gamestop this will be a trade in

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End is another movie tie-in game that feels a little incomplete sometimes. The good news is its got simple gameplay mechanics, gorgeous graphics and even manages to follow the story of the movies rather well. The problem is that for any hardcore gamer (or some gamers in general) its all so basic that its stiff, boring and really repetitive.

The game actually spawns Dead Mans Chest and At Worlds End. Youll begin the game playing through the plot of Dead Mans Chest and then youll get into At Worlds End. This is fitting seeing as how the console never got a game for Dead Mans Chest... and lets face it the handheld games were nothing really to write home about. It also adds to the games length.

Lets get the good out of the way first, shall we? The game is absolutely gorgeous looking. There are some moments when you forget your watching a video game and you actually feel as if youre watching something from a movie. The characters are nicely animated and nicely done. Everything also runs really really smoothly, and for once weve got a movie tie-in game that doesnt have bugs up the wazoo. Theres hardly any (if there is any) clipping, or enemies getting stuck on objects or anything of the sort. On a technical aspect, At Worlds End is marvelous. Almost completely flawless. The music itself comes from the movie, so if you liked the movie soundtrack, youll like the music here. And while the voice acting in the game could be a little better, its really not so bad given that the actors didnt jump on board and lend their voices to the game. Its here where Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End succeeds.

Unfortunately your game being really gorgeous looking cant save it. Sure the game is great to look at, but the gameplay is rather stiff and basic. Any hardcore gamer will be bored of this game before it even gets a chance to get good.

The combat, as I said, is pretty basic. You just swing your sword until the enemy is dazed and then finish them off. Even from the get go, you get the feeling that youre in for the long hall. There isnt a series of buttons to make the combat somewhat interesting. Hardly any combat moves at all. Youve got different ways of finishing your enemies off, and youre even given some neat things to work with like guns, knives and grenades, but none of these items adds anything to the gameplay. Youre mostly stuck just doing this basic combat throughout the whole game with little variety. It wouldve been cool had they had moves in there like other games in the genre. Instead its just one button that does everything, and in a sense its really a drag to be pressing one button throughout the whole game. Of course, it wouldnt be such a drag if your enemies put up some kind of fight. The enemy AI is terrible and theres also a lack of variety of enemies youll encounter. The game is just too easy, and really, that makes the combat very stale and boring. If the game had been more challenging and strategic I probably wouldnt mind pressing one button throughout the whole thing because Id be too busy thinking about how to stay alive.

The game tries to throw more interest at you by giving you some moments in there to switch between characters in the middle of combat. There are moments when youll find yourself switching between characters like Will, Elizabeth, Jack, etc. The problem here is two things. First of all, each character plays the same. So essentially youre still losing some variety that this game couldve had. The characters dont have different moves or have their own faults like one being slower than another or anything like that. The second thing wrong is that you have to watch all their health, even when youre not playing as them, and the computer doesnt do a very good job of keeping them alive. Youll constantly be switching characters not because you want to, but because you need to keep them alive. Its more frustrating than challenging.

A moment that shouldve worked out for the game but didnt were the duels. The gameplay was already mediocre enough, but the duels couldve really been so much better. All you do is keep blocking attacks until you can get a hit in. Its boring and slow, and the game will tell you how to proceed anyway. These one on one duels probably wouldve been better had they just been set up like a fighting game.

The mission objectives at times seem just as bad as the gameplay. A lot of the game consist of you running around fetching items more so than anything else. There are some interesting moments, like the Kraken, but aside from that, its pretty dull stuff. Not only that but the game is almost completely linear. Youll find yourself in places like Port Royal and Singapore, but youll never be able to explore these places, and thats a shame because they really dont look half bad. The game also sends you back and forth a lot within each mission. Again, its annoying. Especially because the enemies repeat themselves a lot and just dont put a fight.

In the end, Pirates is a pretty good looking game, but the gameplay is so stale and boring that its not worth the trouble. The game might suffice as a rental, but its not really worth a buy. Its sad because like a lot of movie tie-in games, there was a lot potential here, they just didnt use it, and once more opted for a way to get the game out by the time of the films release. This time, they opted not to take the gameplay as far as they could.

Disney strucken by Scurvy?     On: 2007-05-25

Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End is without a doubt the best looking Pirate game I have ever seen! And so it is to my utmost disappointment that the gameplay does not make use of such outstanding artwork. This "T" for Teen rated game follows the movie plot of Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Mans Chest and the newly released Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End. The game takes players to many of the locations found in the two movies, such as Port Royal, Tortuga, Isla Cruces, Singapore, Davy Jones Locker and of course the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman. Unfortunately, little to no room is given to explore or interact with these magnificent looking environments. Instead the game sends the player from one un-imaginative fight into the next, while collecting random objects for extra rewards along the way. Some jumping and balancing sections try to mix things up, but even these activities quickly become repetitive. Pirates requires absolutely no thinking because only one objective can be completed at a time and only one predefined path can be taken. The game offers two different Multiplayer games, where players can duel each other in a sword fight or battle in splitscreen mode with or against each other to defeat enemies. Overall Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End is (another) mediocre movie tie-in action game. Leaving a lot of potential but no follow through.
Good Graphics , Weak Combat.     On: 2007-05-24

Pirates of Carribean is a moderatly fun game with richly detailed graphics in third person viewpoint. The weak part about the game is the combat. The attacks performed by your character (J.Sparrow) J.Depp and later on in tandem with Orlando Blooms Character, are pretty simple button mash combo sequence. You can press A for sword attack and X for punch attack .Also after filling up a portion of your finish meter you can perform a finishing kill by pressing the buttons that will flash on the screen ,to do a finish move you will see a prompt on screen telling you which button to press in sequence to perform a finish kill. Which always starts as Hold LT then the press or hold the corisponding button prompted on screen. Like this for example Hold LT. then press Y ,hold B. Or sometimes just hold Y . Whatever is on the screen ..very simular to Spiderman-3 button mashing cutscenes. The only problem with this is its way too easy to just kill an enemy by just pressing A (sword slash) over and over too kill about 90% of the enemies. While the other 10% require at least one finish kill to eliminate them. You also have a handgun with (get this) 3 bullets.woo hoo!! So authentic to that era..lol.you can kill an enemy with your eyes closed because of the auto-aim, hold LT. ... The A.I. is horribly easy to kill. One time I tested out to see if an enemy would hit me at all. And he just stood there circling me without even hitting me or even trying anything at all, and I was right in front of him, finally I just pressed A three times and he was dead, Lame very Lame. And these same enemies repeat themselves over and over, with some of them waiting there turn too fight me. Anybody who played ERAGON? well its nearly the same here in this game. With Pirates only being slightly less lame....Another combat form is when you meet a boss type character you go into DUEL mode . The camera switches into side scroll mode simular to Mortal Combat. But thats where the comparison ends . Theres 3 Circles on the left or right of the combatant . One being a high attack, oNe representing a mid attack, and one representing a low attack. Now get this when the circle turns grey its telling you in advance how the fighter is going to attack you so you can successfully block the attack (how polite), so if you see the upper circle turn grey you push left stick up. And if you make a successful block it will turn green .Or red if you dont. Well this feature takes away the fun out of it as your constantly looking at the 3 circles more than the fighters. Which makes it unbeliveable lame . Its nothing like Soul Caliber or a Mortal Combat at all. There are some great features about this game which are the graphics are pretty darn good. Some of the towns reminded me of Oblivion. And there are some great fog and lighting effects. And the cutscenes look quite good. The levels are pretty much straight forward linear, with a little back-tracking here and there. There are some puzzly type things, like you play an organ in a certain sequence to get Davy Joness key. Its pretty much kindergarden-1st grade puzzles. Kids up too 13 will probably LOVE this game as the combat is very Eragon-ish. But at least the camera is fully controlable so theres no fighting characters off screen. The only side scroll is the easy as pie boss duels . Johnny Depp character looks incredibly good . As well as the squid guy and the hammer head guy . The graphics are a very strong point in this game.Another nice thing is you can switch between Jack Sparrow and Orlando Bloom in combat and control both fighters. Another nice thing is the soul trap sword ,its a flaming green sword that traps enemies souls for whatever eason other than achievement points and high scores postings on LIVE . I hope there is a cheat soon where I could play the entire game with a flaming sword, because it only lasts for a short period and to recharge it you have to find and collect mummified heads. Also you can climb certain walls, ropes, ladders, ships masts when prompted too, which is pretty nice. It is a somewhat decent game in the adventure part but the easy as pie enemies will have hardcore gamers wishing for more, but the kiddes will love this game. Would I buy it? Nope. Only if I had young kids.
