In June 2007, Tekken 6 was playable in an arcade beta, in Japan. Some users, particularly one from the website SD Tekken, recorded the footage of the fighting and intro cutscenes. Some of the returning characters were also seen.

Notable graphic changes were also seen. King's mask for example, now looks more realistic and life like compared to a real Jaguar.

There were also new stages shown such as an ice stage, which is breakable and when breaks sends the fighters to a lower level, and a jungle stage with a small pond that fills the area.

In the trailer footage Kazuya was shown with a helicopter above his head, and Jin was shown saluting his troops as they prepared to march. This shows Tekken 6's main plot- the fight between father and son.

Content

Director Katsuhiro Harada (who also directed Tekken 5) said that Tekken 6 will retain all of the elements from Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection that were well-received by fans. He also said that the stages will be bigger and will have more interactivity and the character customization feature will be more involved with gameplay.[1]

Harada has stated that Tekken 6 will boast the greatest number of characters ever seen in a Tekken game. There are also three new confirmed characters. The first character, Zafina is an Indian female who will have moves Harada likened to that of a "spider"and who enters the tournament to prevent the clash of the "two evil stars", believed to be Kazuya and Jin. The second character, Leo, is a German who is intended to be a character which can be played by beginners and experienced players alike. The third character, Miguel, is a Spaniard with a passion for fighting but no real discipline. [1]
