Plot
Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger return to Hogwarts and discovers that much of the wizard community is in denial about Harry's encounter with Lord Voldemort. This time you will not be able to play as Hermione or Ron, you will however be able to play as Fred and George Weasley, Dumbledore and Sirius at certain points in the game.
Features
A promotional demo has been available from the UK official website since before the release of the game, displaying some of the new game mechanics. Later, as part of the "Bringing it Home" games for E3 2007, a demo has been available on Xbox Live for the Xbox 360. Overall, 85 locations have been included in Hogwarts (Combining the movie blueprints, J.K. Rowling's drawings and books together to have a better Hogwarts experience), including important locations such as the Ministry of Magic, Grimmauld Place and Little Whinging. There are also 66 missions to complete, such as saving innocent students from the hands of Slytherin bullies.
As well as the main missions, and as part of the new sandbox style of playing, players can explore Hogwarts and interact with objects, using your spells, to earn Discovery points. Some of the interactions include lighting goblets with Incendio, repairing walls and statues with Reparo and making beds with Accio.
Earning Discovery points makes your spells stronger, and also earns you unlockables which can be viewed in the Room of Rewards. Moaning Myrtle visits you each time you unlock something new in the room. Items in the room such as trophies can also be unlocked by taking part in the various minigames, such as Exploding Snap, Wizard Chess and Gobstones.
The game features the moving staircases as they are in the movie, and twenty-two of the characters are voiced by their respective actors and actresses.
Occlumency is also introduced as a feature of the game. It involves Severus Snape pointing his wand like a compass, and the player must force the wand back by repeatedly pressing a button or, in the case of the Wii, shaking the Wii Remote in the desired direction.
